Porcine insemination / Seminal motility
Seminal quality parameters
Seminal motility
The seminal quality is contrasted in the phase-contrast microscope throughout a computorized system CASA of motility and concentration evaluation. The diluent used in the study is a commercial diluent of medium duration.
Once the semen ejaculated has been analyzed and dissolved, the next step is to pack the seminal doses, keeping a sample of each one of the different semen ejaculated evaluated in order to analyze it 24 and 48 hours after the seminal motility.
Once all the evaluation criteria have been established, if we observe in detail the seminal evolution regarding to the parameters of Total Motility (figures 1, 3 and 5), we can see that in each one of the genetic profiles (NN, NP, PT), the evolution of the seminal quality is controlled by the same standard. There is a progressive but slow decrease during the next 2 days regarding Total Motility, so we can say that the doses maintain intact their seminal qualities 72 hours after the first analysis.
On the other side, if we observe the seminal quality parameters regarding the percentage of progressive spermatozoids present in the different semen ejaculated of each one of the analyzed batches, we can see that they are also controlled by the same standard.
Once all the seminal quality parameters have been analyzed, and as it can be observed in Table 11 (Absolute values of seminal quality regarding genetics), we can see that there are no significant differences in each one of the parameters, since all the semen ejaculated evolve exactly the same way both regarding Total Motility and Progressive Spermatozoids in each one of the analysis that have been carried out, it means, at the beginning and after 24 and 48 hours after dilution.
